A 1 (Thayam) brings a coin out of the centre onto your start square (the lane square touching the centre).
Roll again after 1, 5, 6 or 12. Rolled numbers can be split between coins.
A coin goes out along your own middle lane, clockwise around the whole board, then back in along your lane to the centre. Finishing needs an exact count.
Landing on an opponent cuts it back home, unless it is on a safe square: the ✕ corners or the diagonal-marked ends of the arms.
You must cut an opponent at least once before any of your coins may go inside. Until then they stop on the last outer square before the arm end (the square just before your diagonal-marked end square).
You cannot jump over an opponent coin on the outer track. Land on it exactly to cut it, or move another coin. If no coin can move, the turn passes. Coins on safe squares don't block.
